Last Minute Instructions

1,000 youth sprint to the finish at 10:50 a.m.

  • The start of the 100 meter for 1-6 year olds is at the northeast corner of the Civic Center, one block east of the finish line.

  • The start of the 200 meter for 7-9 year olds is at the old Public Library across from the YMCA, just prior to the bridge over the Des Moines River, two blocks east of the finish line.

  • The start of the out & back 800 meter for 10-12 year olds is at the finish line, gather at the 5K/Youth registration tent prior to lining up.

  • The finish line is the same as the 20 km and 5 km finish line. All finishers will receive a special Dam to Dam participation award.

Dam to Dam Youth Run

Dam to Dam youth runs are open to all kids, ages 1 to 12 years old. Free registration and number pickup is available Friday, June 3 at the Polk County Convention Complex, 501 Grand Avenue from 2 to 8 p.m. or Saturday, June 4, 8 to 10 a.m. at the registration tent on the north side of the Civic Center building. Pre-registration is not accepted.

Dam to Dam youth shirts will be available at registration. The youth runs start at 10:50 a.m. Each run starts on Locust Street and finishes the Dam to Dam finish line. Youth run with their own age, youngest first. Parents are encouraged to participate with their 1 to 6 year olds. All youth receive a participation award.

100 meters for 1-6 year olds

Gather near the NE corner of the Civic Center building at 10:50 a.m.

200 meters for 7-9 year olds

Gather near the old Public Library, across from the YMCA at 10:55 a.m.

New

800 meters for 10-12 year olds

Gather at the registration tent on the north side of the Civic Center building at 11 a.m. After the younger youth run, the group will start at the finish line, run to the 400 meter mark near the Embassy Suite, turn around and run back to the finish line. The out and back course will allow a more age appropriate distance run and will also be great fun for spectators.
