What's New in 2011?

Here is Some of What is New to Dam to Dam in 2011

  • 20K and 5K runners will have their choice of tie-die cotton shirt color - Pink, Blue, Green or Orange.

  • We welcome Nike to Dam to Dam! Nike socks for all 20 kilometer runners. Nike special race shirts to all 20 kilometer age division winners and Nike Dam to Dam apparel will be on sale at the June 3 packet pickup.

  • Back by popular demand, two $100 Fitness Sports gift certificates will be awarded every hour (3, 4, 5, 6, 7 p.m.) at the June 3 packet pickup.

  • 800 meter youth run for 10 to 12 year olds. A wonderful day of running will end as Dam's oldest youth line up at the finish for a out and back 800 meter run. A thrill for our youth runners and a spectator delight.

  • Wall of sound during mile 11 of the 20 kilometer and mile 2 of the 5 kilometer races. The music on the course keeps you on pace. As you near the finish the sound just gets louder (a virtual "wall of sound"). Then you turn right, head west with the State Capitol in the background to the finish line.

  • If you run fast you are rewarded at Dam to Dam. The addition of Iowa and US citizen bonuses will make the competition more heated for hometown favorites.

  • Not new but Dam proud of the great packet pickup and post race refreshments - all you can eat or drink for you and your family members. The refreshments just keep expanding, a great way to socialize with your running friends.

  • OK, this is an old favorite, but we have a new 2011 Dam to Dam poster. Just the right size to proudly display at work or home.

  • It's always new after 12.4 mile, the Dam medal and wonderful ribbon celebrating Iowa's Distance Classic.
