Fee
5 kilometer entry fee is $20 if postmarked by or on Monday, May 19. After May 19 no registration is accepted via postal mail. After May 19, the entry fee is $25 by registering on-line at www.active.com through noon on Wednesday, May 28. $30 entry fee at packet pickup Friday, May 30. No registration will be accepted on race day. No refunds or transferring of race number.

Packet Pickup
5 Kilometer packets will be available Friday, May 30 at the Polk County Convention Complex, 501 Grand Avenue from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. 5K packets will be available May 31, at Nollen Plaza near the start line from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Race entrants will be able to look up their race number on
this website on Thursday, May 29.

Start
5 Kilometer starts at 9:15 a.m. at the corner of 3rd Street and Walnut, one block south of the finish area and adjacent to Nollen Plaza.

Route
5 Kilometer race is a USA Track & Field certified distance. The 3.1 mile course is flat and fast winding through the east side of the downtown area. Shortly after the 1st mile, the course turns right onto East River Drive merging with the 20K (they are going south). The 5K course turns around just before the bike path near University Avenue and heads back south, then
goes west on Locust to the finish. No early starts, bikes, baby joggers, dogs, roller blades, headphones or electronic listening devices are allowed.

Finish
5 Kilometer finishes at 3rd Street and Locust Street, adjacent to Nollen Plaza in downtown Des Moines. Refreshments are available on the east end of Nollen Plaza. Finishers must show their race number and be prepared to show a photo ID to receive alcohol.

Awards Ceremony & Results
5 Kilometer awards will be presented at 10:30 a.m. on Nollen Plaza. In the event of bad weather, the awards will be held inside Capital Square, west of Nollen Plaza. Results will be posted near the finish line, full results will be available Saturday at 7 p.m. on this website, and the official results booklet will be mailed to all entrants.

Age Group Awards
5 Kilometer special awards are presented to the top 3 male and female winners, who are eligible for age group awards. 5 Kilometer age group awards are presented to the top 3 male and female winners in 13 age divisions.
